Must have Windows 7 Apps

So what is worth wasting precious hard drive space and  clogging your registry with pointless entries anymore…? We ask ourselves this  question everyday while everything in this industry changes right before our  eyes. Below, I will give a brief description of the applications I think are  worth a try. Also, the images to the left are clickable, and will take you  straight to the software manufactures website.

After a fresh install of Windows 7 I would suggest getting  your antivirus needs out of the way. For this I will recommend AVG Anti-Virus  2011 Free Edition. It only offers antivirus and spyware protection, but it is  upgraded on a daily basis, and offers superior protection while taking up a  minimal amount of RAM.

CCleaner is a great application that offers many features…  Besides having the ability to clean out your windows temporary files, you can  uninstall applications, clean the old registry entries, and play with your  startup apps too (decreasing boot up time). Use caution though, and always save  a backup of your registry before cleaning (an option is given within the app).

Everyone is pretty use to using Internet Explorer as it is  the only browser given on a fresh copy of Windows 7… But it is always good to  have another alternative. I, along with millions across the world believe that  Mozilla Firefox is the better alternative. With faster loading, ton’s of  available add-ons and a sleek look, it easy to see why this browser gets so  much attention.

If you like to watch videos on your laptop or desktop then you must download this awesome program: VLC Player. I don’t need to say much more about this other than what is on their site… Simple, Powerful and Fast, Plays everything, Files, Discs (DVD, CD, VCD), Devices and Streams, Plays most codecs with no codec packs needed, Completely Free, 0 Spyware, Ads or User Tracking, Best Mpeg2, x264, DivX player, Works on most platforms: Windows, Linux, Mac, Unix… Media Converter and Streamer.

Windows Update’s will be my final absolute necessity for you to grab when you  first install a new operating system… These are extremely important as they contain security updates and performance enhancements to further your pleasure.

Other important programs that you don’t see too much of as  they run when needed whilst browsing the web are Java, and Flash Player.

Also, if you are power user, and re-build systems yourself check out this awesome website.
